Administration of Medication

As a school for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs we are required to gain written permission from parents or carers before administering any medication. To comply with our policy, no pupil is given medication or access to a medical device without confirmation that this has been perscribed by a GP or medical professional, for example a pharmacist.

What does this mean?

For example, to administer medication such as antibiotics, paractemol/calpol and other 'over the counter' medicines such as Piriton.  Medication would need to be sent into school in original packaging with a label from the GP/ chemist stating dosage, pupil name and date.

A form (shown below) must also be completed and returned to school. This is also available on request from the office- we can send a copy home. It is also accessible via our policy and protocol section of the website.

All medication must be received by named staff member and always signed in and out.

Please call if you have any questions or queries on 01606 853005
