SAFEGUARDING OVERVIEW
The Russett School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all our pupils and young people in the academy. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.
We believe that pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying the processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.
We recognise our legal duty, under s175 Education Act 2002 and the 1989 Children Act, and we take seriously our responsibilities to protect and safeguard the interests of all pupils. Safeguarding is our highest priority and we take all reasonable steps to ensure children are protected from harm. Effective child protection work requires sound procedures, good inter-agency co-operation and a team that is competent and confident in responding to child protection situations.
Our Safeguarding Policy reflects current legislation, accepted best practice and complies with the government guidance. Please see our policies section our current policy.
