WELCOME TO BIRCH CLASS!
Welcome to Birch Class!
We are group of 9 pupils in key stage 3. Amy is our class teacher and Rachael, (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), Sharon (Wednesday) and Sam work with us.
During the summer term our topic is what do I want to be? In science we were be exploring our bodies, focussing on nutrition and digestion. We will all continue to work on our problem solving and counting skills in maths. Some of our pupils will be investigating shapes, measurement and time.
In English we will basing our reading work on :The Train to Impossible Places. We will be streaming these sessions with pupils in Cedar and Elm to allow our countryside and city pupils further opportunities to mix with other peers and develop their drama skills alongside their reading. The coastal pupils will be able to share sensory stories and activities while working on their communication skills. Our other book we will be focusing on is Rise Up, Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories.
All pupils will continue to access daily streamed phonics sessions. You can support your child at home by accessing the rhino readers following the link below. If you are unsure what level your child is working at please let me know.

Please remember to send your child in with a labelled drinks bottle, labelled snacks and a coat. We can provide water and milk throughout the day, but if your child prefers cordial please send this with them.
Pupils access the outside areas multiple times a day so please ensure they have named, appropriate clothing for the weather. We would appreicate pupils having a change of clothes in school too. We take part in lots of messy activities and access the outdoor area regularly. If you know your child loves water and/or getting messy having spare, named clothes in their bag would be a huge help.
Key Times
Monday and Wed- majority of the class will be accessing the onsite pool.
Tuesday – PE (dance)
The pupils will also have at least weekly access to:
The learning kitchen (our maths session every Tuesday focus on measuring through exploring and creating different food items.)
Immersive room
Sensory room.
We will be continuing to capture the pupils learning through Evisense so please check regularly to see what your child has been doing. We would also love to see what they have been doing at home so please feel free to add your own pictures to share with us!
